Stitches

Description

After watching the movie "How to Train Your Dragon" in the spring of 2010, I immediately fell in love with night furies. The following summer I went to Hobby Lobby, bought six yards of black fleece, three bags of stuffing, and sewed together a giant night fury plush using this pattern. (though I ended up modifying it so much I could almost say it was my own).

I named him Stitches.

My night fury plush is five feet long with a wingspan of nearly six. Although he is not the first thing I've sewn, it is by far the largest and most complex. (the very first thing I sewed was a crappy purple elephant felt hand puppet that I quickly out grew. Since I wasn't allowed to use needles then I had to improvise by using yarn taped to a TOOTHPICK.)

Seeing as my night fury plush was still one of the first things I've sewn, his stitch work isn't perfect. In fact, his stitches are loose and too close to the edge in some places and his knots are messily tied. And after days and nights of being kicked, tossed, thrown, dragged, hugged, tugged and squeezed, he's begun to shown some wear and tear.

So I took him home from college with me and gave him some repairs. This is just a doodle of me fixing one of the broken seams on his foot.

Stitches isn't perfect. His head is too big, his horns are too short, his legs are long and noodle-y. But I love him anyway. :)
